Our 2010 Cabernet Bordeaux Blend, composed of 76% Cabernet Sauvignon, 14% Malbec and 10% Petit Verdot, carries the great depth from the long, cool 2010 growing season that is reflected in rich fruitiness in both the aroma and flavor with an extended mouthfeel that lingers.
Judges described this wine as “approachable, layered, and rich” in the special Press Democrat North Coast Wine Challenge that was open to North Coast wines from the premium Napa, Sonoma and Mendocino appellations and judged by an exceptional group of expert judges including Dan Berger, Daryl Groom, Paul Dolan, Bob Foster, Peg Melnick, Wilfred Wong and others.
This blend captures the essence of four Cabernet clones (two American and two French) as well as French clones of Malbec and Petit Verdot. Each varietal and each clone are individually fermented and separately aged in 100% French oak for 22 months.
As bottling approaches, we spend many months playing with multiple iterations of blend possibilities, finally narrowing down our favorites until a clear winner emerges. We spend much time micro-managing these blends as they are so important to the taste of the wine.
REGION: Dry Creek Valley, Sonoma County, California
CASES: 125 cases
FOOD PAIRING NOTES: This Cabernet would best complement a main course of flavorful red meat. We suggest Wood-Smoked Tri-Tip with Sicilian Herb Sauce.
